Break down genres and put them back together again. Titanic, a joint project by Mabe Fratti and I la Católica, is coming to Prague

Hybrid jazz, a touch of pop melodies, or postmodern opera. The duo Titanic, consisting of Mabe Fratti and I la Católica, recorded the unexpected album Vidrio in 2023. On 4 September, the Guatemalan experimental musician and Mexican multi-instrumentalist will arrive at Studio Hrdinů in Prague with their new album Hagen. The event is organised by the Heartnoize collective.

Fratti and Hector Tosta focus mainly on deconstruction with their Titanic project – jazz, songwriting and traditional instrumentation. They then compose new forms from the decomposed forms, seeking unexpected connections between the saxophone, percussion and the honeyed melodies of the South American composer and singer. The close collaboration and connection between the musicians not only produces unexpected music, but also deep emotions, which are rendered with precision in their performance.
