Heartnoize Promotion & Landmine Alert presents:
The wild card of the British guitar scene has been undoubtedly won by the post-punk / disco-functional phenomenon Squid. The five-member band from Brighton quickly became known to critics and fans alike with energetic, ecstatic songs, and only a few singles, most notably Houseplants and EP Town Center, were nominated for the prestigious BBC’s Sound of 2020 awards. they secured a place on posters for festivals like Roskilde, Primavera Sound or Glastonbury. “They’ve got this whole urgent, post-punk drive engine all the way.” NME magazine writes to their address and DIY adds: “Crazy, eclectic, fun and interesting new mess.”
Together with Black Country, New Road and Black Midi, Squid completes the most significant trio of bands despising genre boxes associated with the Windmill Brixton club and the Speedy Wunderground label, which released their early singles. For example, they teamed up with its owner, the acclaimed producer Dan Carey, for the single Sludge. He was the first swallow of a new collaboration with the Warp Records label, on which the band will release their long-playing debut Bright Green Field in May 2021. They will play for the first time in the Czech Republic on Tuesday, October 19th, in the Underdogs’ club, Prague, together with the Polish band Lonker See.
