SANAM will perform together with Gnäw on 7th of July 2025 in Prague’s Vila Štvanice
SANAM is a Lebanese music group that was formed in 2021 as a result of a collaboration between musicians from Beirut’s alternative scene. SANAM’s work combines traditional Arabic musical elements with genres such as post-rock, ambient, noise and free jazz. Their music uses both traditional instruments, such as the buzuq, and modern electronics. A characteristic feature of their work is a strong emphasis on improvisation, sonic experimentation and cultural context, often supported by the use of Arabic poetry and literary texts.
The Czech-based duo Gnäw consists of Iranian musician Arash Ghasem and Finnish-born Simo Hakalisto. Their experimental musical compositions use traditional Persian and Finnish instruments, which they combine with modular synthesizers. Through improvisation they create transient soundscapes with a certain amount of psychedelia and reverie.
