NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM

Belgian band Neptunian Maximalism will perform on 11 February 2023 in Prague’s club Underdogs.

A psychedelic instrumental colossus whose sound spans the galaxy – that’s how American critic Anthony Fantano describes the nine-piece Belgian band. The two percussionists drive the long musical chapters forward in sometimes cacophonous but always tightly held structures. The peak of their work to date, the concept album Éons, has been compared by the media to the work of King Crimson for its density.

From the release of their first album, The Conference of the Stars, to their most recent oddball Finis Gloriae Mundi, NNMM have slowly but surely been making their way into the circles of global music connoisseurs as one of the few bands in recent years to offer invention in the broader metal box, even without the use of electronic music. Evidence of this was a widely covered performance on the prestigious Roadburn Redux broadcast or an ecstatic set at the Le Guess Who?
