𓂃 A place between day and night, between unfulfilled desire and pleasure. The dreamy tracks of Belgian musician Milan W. create their own space-time of twisted love songs, in which the ghosts of past relationships come to life against a backdrop of intimate electronics, guitar, and sometimes saxophone. On Wednesday, February 18, the Flemish musician, directed by Heartnoize, will bring them to the V. kolona café, located in the middle of a park—the grounds of the Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital—whose main mission is to help people with experience of mental illness train to return to work.
𓂃Milan Warmoeskerken, aka Milan W., is one of the prominent figures of the Flemish experimental scene, whether it be cult bands such as Flying Horseman and Condor Grupp, his work in the synthpop duo Mittland och Leo, or in the playful Schlager. In his solo project and on his latest album, Leave Another Day, released on the Belgian label Stroom, he creates music that is intimate yet expansive. The album ranges from guitars to emotionally charged vocals to saxophone, exploring old forms of intimacy and new ways of expressing it. On the Boomcat platform, Milan W. unexpectedly earned first place in the 2024 album rankings: “The twelve songs on the album reflect the thoughts of an old head on young shoulders; it combines and intertwines elements of dark country, folk-rock, blues, chamber jazz noir, and cosmic indie-pop with a touch of synthetic warmth and a remarkably balanced voice for all ages, in a perfectly balanced mix floating above it all. “
