MARIA SOMERVILLE

05–03—2026 VENUŠE VE ŠVEHLOVCE

After Fontaines D.C., Lankum, Segovi Bodegovi, John Francis Flynn, and The Murder Capital, Heartnoize brings another voice of the new Irish generation to the Czech Republic.

𓂃 A whisper lost in the wind, hazy memories, and shoegaze revisited. Irish musician Maria Somerville will perform at Venuše ve Švehlovce in Prague on March 5 and then at Kabinet Múz in Brno on March 6, organized by Heartnoize.

𓂃 Somerville arrives with her second album, Luster, released on the 4AD label—a dreamy, atmospheric recording in which she returns in her memories to her hometown of Connerama, the banks of the River Corrib, and the local soundscape. On the remix version of the album, which will be released on January 21, the musician is joined by familiar and surprising names such as colle, Seefeel, and YHWH Nailgun.

𓂃 Maria Somerville draws inspiration from Irish ballads, but also post-punk, dream pop, and drone music. Her debut album, All My People, built ethereal soundscapes mirroring those found in Ireland. The ghostly vocals and exposed percussion returned on her second album, Luster—its subtle melodies, carefully constructed worlds, and introspective lyrics earned it a spot on Pitchfork’s Best New Music list.

𓂃 “[Somerville] has a wide range: part of the pleasure of Luster is that, if you listen closely, you can pick up traces of pop, anthemic singing, trip-hop, and experimental electronic music hidden beneath the surface,” The Guardian wrote in its review of the album.
