What began as a studio attempt at a modern version of Peruvian cumbia is now a full-fledged band with an unprecedented drive. Members of Los Bitchos met in London, but come from Australia, Uruguay, Sweden and the South English coast.

The mix of influences from their home countries, the 80’s sound of guitar and keytara, as well as the distortions following the punk background together form an original, catchy aesthetic, which was noticed not only by the British scene. To release their long-awaited debut album, they signed up for the Berlin City Slang stable, a haven for world alternatives such as Anna von Hausswolff, Tindersticks and Caribou. Producer Alex Kapranos, frontman of the band Franz Ferdinand, has a great deal of credit for his sound.

Los Bitchos performances do not lack a lot of energy, for example, Mac DeMarca fans, whom they accompanied on his British tour, know about it, but they also played with Ty Segall, The Black Lips, Viagra Boys or Dry Cleaning.

“It is impossible not to enjoy watching this band” DIY Magazine wrote about their performances, the live from KEXP has been seen by over a million people.

A sparkling, contagious mix of psychedelia, cumbie, grooming rock and dance will be premiered in the Czech Republic at Chapeau Rouge in Prague on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
