Circuit Des Yeux returns to Prague in October with a new album -io.
Deep sadness and personal trauma. From the dark reality and bleak grief over the loss of her close friend, Haley Fohr escapes to -io, a metaphysical space bathed in an all-consuming warm orange, a space where the sunset never begins and never ends.
Before writing her sixth album, Fohr, aka Circuit des Yeux, went through a period of personal and creative crisis and emptiness. She spent the first part of 2020 on the saddest beach of her life (during an artist residency on the small island of Captiva in South Florida), and the subsequent arrival of a pandemic and the death of a close friend only deepened her depression and isolation from the outside world.
She has translated her anguish into her most complex recording to date-io, which interweaves atmospheric soundscapes, a heady four-octave voice, and haunting string sections with claustrophobic lyrics. The -io album has garnered significant acclaim and made the annual charts of several major magazines, including The Wire, Crack, Magnet and NPR Music.
