LIARS

12–10—2026 PUNCTUM

Always on the move, constantly changing and shifting between continents and genres, searching again and again for a new musical and conceptual language. The Liars project, co-founded in 1999 by Australian artist and performer Angus Andrew, has served for over a quarter of a century as a vehicle for exploring field recordings, composition, and studio work—and for tirelessly transcending the “alt-rock” label. Angus Andrew will arrive with his musical collective on October 12 at Punctum in Prague, twenty years after the release of the legendary album *Drums Not Dead* and 25 years after the band’s founding. The event will take place as part of the Heartnoize series.

Liars formed at the turn of the millennium in New York, within the fertile ground of the Brooklyn underground scene that also gave rise to bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem. However, the constant evolution of their sound (and, gradually, their lineup) never brought them commercial success—but rather allowed them to explore new territory with each recording, as well as new ways to confront their own fears and anxieties. In their live lineup, led by Angus Andrew, Liars combine physical performance, immersive sound, and a deep dedication to their art. This fall, they’ll also release a new album, *A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans*, which reflects on corporate power and the absurd bureaucratic practices of the packaging factory next to which Andrew lived.
