Anna von Hausswolff will present her latest record of organ music All Thoughts Fly in Prague in the monumental setting of the evangelical church at Salvátorská street in the Old Town.
The Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist explores the breadth of possibilities and new expressions of a classical instrument on her album released on the prestigious Southern Lord label. Seven compositions radiate calm and drama, harmony and dissonance. The composer herself sheds light on the fact that the album is inspired by the Italian Sacro Bosco garden full of ingrown mythical statues and buildings. “I would like to believe that Orsini built this park out of grief after his wife’s death, and this story also serves as an inspiration to me: love as a basis for creation.”
The album, recorded in seven days in Gothenburg’s Örgryte New Church, received considerable critical response. “It allows the organ to sing for itself: songs about love and loss, disintegration and eternal life,” Pitchfork wrote in a review.
Many of von Hausswolff’s projects are still growing – with her new project BADA, she performed in 2019 in Prague at a grandiouse concert on the ship Altenburg. During her career, she introduced herself alongside the names such as Nick Cave, Nils Frahm or David Byrne and was a guest on the albums Swans, Yann Tiersen or Wolves in The Throne Room. The concerts of this versatile artist are always soulful and unusual. It will be no different in one of the most beautiful churches in Prague.
