Searching for a new voice, himself, and paths to follow in life and creativity – American musician Alan Sparhawk has been pushing the boundaries of self-expression for decades. Whether in the iconic band Low or in his solo work on his last two albums, White Roses, My God and With Trampled by Turtles, Sparhawk is constantly exploring new ways of articulating and experiencing emotions through music, even when it comes to the most intimate or darkest experiences. He will arrive at the Krakov cultural center on May 4 with a solo show directed by Heartnoize.

Sparhawk’s musical expression on his two latest albums couldn’t be more different, yet 

the recordings fit together like yin and yang. On his first solo recording after the death of his musical and life partner Mimi Parker, White Roses, My God, sadness and pain dissolve into mechanical beats, and a vocoder-distorted voice narrates emptiness and hope and coming to terms with things that are beyond our understanding. The second album, With Trampled by Turtles, on the other hand, returns to the characteristic guitar and old-new friendships that accompany a person when they need them most. Even after more than thirty years on the scene, Alan Sparhawk remains contemporary, sensitive, and open to the world, ready to return to the past and discover new territory at the same time. 

Alan Sparhawk will be preceded by Ida the Young, whose world consists of strange flowers, black lipstick, hungry seagulls, wrinkled hands in a bathtub, volcanoes, and murderous cowboys. The five-piece band stands out with its intimate, straightforward vocals and captivating lyrics, as well as its colorful instrumentation, in which it is not afraid to mix genres. In 2025, they released their debut full-length album Tell Me When You Pass The Sun, for which they received a Vinyl Award nomination.
