The American quartet Agriculture returns to Prague with a new album about the most fundamental human experiences, from suffering to love. The album The Spiritual Sound offers no salvation, but rather an anchoring in the present moment, somewhere between a stop at a gas station and a mattress laid out on the living room floor.

Agriculture started out in the Los Angeles noise underground and gradually moved towards a heavier metal sound. Their work blends motifs borrowed from Zen Buddhism, queer history, and the collapsing present, intertwining them into everyday rituals of survival. Agriculture laid the foundations for black metal in 2022 with the recording The Circle Chant, followed a year later by the eponymous LP and then the album Living Is Easy.

The Spiritual Sound is, as the title suggests, a spiritual album. However, the search for deeper meaning is not abstract; it begins simply with imperfect musical gear and the band’s van on the road. It seeks meaning in what surrounds us and follows the Buddhist motto: the only way out is in.
