Pioneers of Irish noise rock, extreme punk, 21st-century noise rock, and sound sculpture that explores new forms. On January 31, 2027, the Irish quartet Gilla Band will perform at Subzero in Prague. For more than a decade, they have been developing a hybrid musical style that transcends the boundaries of post-punk and experimental rock.
The Irish band Gilla Band, consisting of Dara Kiely, Alan Duggan Borges, Daniel Fox, and Adam Faulkner, formed in 2011 in Dublin, originally under the name Girl Band.
Their latest, critically acclaimed album 𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭, earned praise as a “masterpiece of panic and deconstruction” from Pitchfork and was described as “the last rave before the apocalypse” and “the most perfect expression of rock ’n’ roll’s fundamental self-destructive impulse” in The Guardian’s music section.
Gilla Band has become one of the most influential Irish bands and has inspired the current wave of guitar-driven bands such as Fontaines D.C. and The Murder Capital. Even after years on the scene, the Irish quartet maintains its radical sound and a desire to create and explore, which in their case is a necessity.
