Somewhere between faith and madness, the Michigan band Prostitute was born in the pandemic year of 2020. Their energetic post-punk, infused with Arabic dance and electronic music, has earned them a reputation for intense live shows and politically nonconformist stances since their debut album, *Attempted Martyr*. Prostitute will arrive in Prague for the first time on September 1, 2026, presented by the Heartnoize collective.

On their 2025 debut album, Prostitute created a sound that is both raw and hypnotic—a blend of distorted guitars, simple bass lines, frenzied drumming, and synthesizers combined with musical influences from the Arabian Peninsula and Lebanon. The evocative lyrics of the American-based band contrast scenes of violence with literary allusions, creating what the band describes as a “theatrical portrayal of terrorism.” As music magazine Pitchfork puts it: “The strongest aspect of the album Attempted Martyr isn’t the individual crushing choruses or the relentless storm of punk music. It is [vocalist] Moe’s ability to transform the real-life nightmares of his Lebanese family and friends (war-torn realities that are reduced in the United States to mere ‘foreign policy’ ) into disturbingly poetic lyrics.”
