𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘺 & 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦: Beirut's Battle of the Hotels, From Historical Research to Music with Mayssa Jallad and Lynda Zein. Architecture, the urban environment and, above all, Beirut's hotels as the main protagonists of the beginning of the Lebanese civil war and of the music - this is how singer-songwriter and researcher Mayssa Jallad conceived her debut album Marjaa: The Battle of the Hotels.On the eve of her Prague concert at the Olympik Hotel, Lebanese musician and urban explorer Mayssa Jallad will meet architect Lynda Zein at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery. Together they will discuss architecture, their relationship to the city and its transformations. The discussion will be held in English, free admission with registration 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗱 is a bilingual singer, composer, and researcher in the field of architecture. Her work deals with both very personal and political themes, as seen in her first solo album Marjaa: The Battle of the Hotels. The album explores the history of urban battles that occurred before her birth during the Lebanese Civil War, through a shared musical and architectural lens. Mayssa Jallad currently lives in Beirut. Concert a day later → (https://www.heartnoize.cz/mayssa-jallad-prague-2024-hotel-olympic/) Architect 𝗟𝘆𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗭𝗲𝗶𝗻 studied urban planning in Paris. She has long been working on the themes of gentrification, destruction and urban segregation. She currently teaches at UMPRUM and at AVU she researches acceleration processes in architecture in a post-socialist context. Together with her colleague Eliška Málková, she led the research and the exhibition of the same name Pro/Change Karlín for ViPer gallery. Together, they also curated the art festival Waiting for Transformation in Prague's metro stations and the Libuš and Písnice housing estates for the GHMP. The event is organised by Jaroslav Fragner Gallery and Heartnoize Promotion.
